Mobile strategy: Do's and don'ts

Mobilestrategy Mobile internet adoption outpaced desktop internet adoption... already! The mobile revolution started in fact years ago and still we are waiting for the revolution...

did you know that Google programmers are first programming their apps on mobile phones...

Great presentation about some best practises when implementing a mobile strategy. It was given at the Online Marketing Summit at Portland. Some interesting key - take aways:

  • don't assume customers just want to download your app
  • go beyond flash
  • don't make finding a store & opening hours difficult
  • simple to use does not mean dumb
  • use a mobile sniffer: mobile users are redirected to your mobile website. Not your website on just a mobile phone!
  • know your customers and which devices they use
  • Go beyond iPhone: there are more other OS mobile phones sold and used than iPhone!
  • Know your demographics
  • don't talk about apps only
  • add value by offering a mobile app to your most valued customers
  • be consistent!
  • it's always on! 50% of people sleep with their phone
  • it's measurable and can have a social context
  • augmented reality gets in the creative part
and now you!
